Legislative Action Alerts

As part of our effort to increase the legislative influence of TCC Chapters with Congress in this important election year, each Chapter is requested to send to all of its members who have Email the Email Legislative Action Alert outlined below. It is anticipated that we will be sending out no more than one or two of these Emails per month on important matters before Congress. We are extremely fortunate to have a superior legislative liaison in MOAA's Washington office; but, their efforts must be supplemented by wide-spread "grass-roots" support to be effective. If we at TCC originate the Alert messages for you, hopefully it will be a simple matter for your to forward them to your membership, with the result that Congress will be receiving Email messages from all over the State of Texas. Any suggestions you may have on this for us to make it easier for you will be welcome.

Emergency Supplemental Appropriations
Please send Email to all your members with computers to request them to visit MOAA's Web site to urge their legislators to finalize and pass the emergency supplemental appropriations bill, including the GI Bill upgrade. These funds are necessary to meet military combat and military pay needs. Members should click HERE to send a MOAA e-mail to their legislators. They can add emphasis with a personal phone call, using MOAA's toll-free Capitol Hill Hot Line (1-866-272-6622). They should just ask the Capitol Operator to connect them with their legislator's office.
Increase Pay Raises

14 May 08
Rep. Thelma Drake (R-VA) has introduced H.R. 5987, which would increase military pay raises over several years to restore military pay comparability to civilian pay. Please click HERE to send the MOAA-suggested message to your legislators asking them to cosponsor this important bill.

Medicare Cuts

14 May 08
Unless Congress acts before mid-June, Medicare and TRICARE payments to doctors will be cut by 10.6% in July 2008. That will hurt military families access to health care by causing more doctors to stop seeing Medicare and TRICARE patients. Please click HERE to send the MOAA-suggested message to your legislators asking them to reverse these cuts.
